IMPORTANT MESSAGE from your Regional Commissioner

To our AYSO Families:

Good day to you all.  We hope you are all well at this time, especially in the midst of our country’s….our world’s….situation with the Corvid-19 virus.

I know what this pandemic has led to in regards to our kids, their schooling, and our lives as a whole. A new normal has descended upon our nation.

Your board is very much aware of it.  The regional board is made up of teachers/school employees, medial workers, ems workers, and (most importantly), fellow parents.

I won’t beat around the bush in this email.   Normally, our registration for the Fall season would be opening this month.  It was scheduled to open on April 15.  However, this pandemic has created a strain on this decision.   It is not just our region: I have been following discussions with my fellow regional commissioners from across the country.  I have been getting weekly (and almost daily) emails from the National office.

Because of this pandemic, a training weekend our board usually goes to was canceled this year.  I have a meeting that I would normally go to annually, and I would not be surprised to see it cancelled in June.

Here is the long and short of it:  if we went with National’s recommendations, we would have opened fall registration EARLIER THAN USUAL.  However, at this time, our region is NOT going to open registration early.  In fact, we are, at this time, NOT opening registration until we as a board can discus the future of our fall 2020 season (this decision to postpone registration was made by me as regional commissioner alone, out of caution on my part).

Your region is scheduled to have a meeting in a couple of weeks. In this interim, we will be seeking advice from the national office as well as the section and area directors.  Once a decision has been made, I will contact you all with what will be happening by email AND on Facebook.  We do welcome everyone’s input as well.

It is out hope and desire that this pandemic will come to an end, the quarantine come to an end, and that we WILL have a 2020 Fall Season.  But in the end, the health and safety of EVERYONE is top priority at this point.

On behalf of our board, I hope and pray you all remain safe and healthy at this time in our nation’s and world’s history.  God bless you all.

Respectfully,

Aaron Pierce,

Regional Commissioner, AYSO Region 294
